Self Lubricated PTFE Lined Split Bush Bearing
The composite material consists of three bonded layers
- Steel Backing
- Porous Bronze Matrix
- Impregnated and overlaid with PTFE Bearing material
The steel backing provides mechanical strength and the bronze inter layer (impregnated with the PTFE lead Mixture) provides a strong mechanical bond for the lining. This construction promotes dimensional stability and improves the thermal conductivity, thus reducing the temperature at the bearing surface. During normal operation, a thin film from the PTFE lining is transferred to the opposing surface and maintained there throughout the working life of the bearing.
